A lot of you know my story but I wanted to write it down so everyone would know what I am about and what our gym is about.
I started teaching gymnastics when I was 15 I worked for Metro School of Gymnastics and taught the boys team, girls team and taught the tumbling classes. I taught gymnastics all through high school and college and cheered in college. My boys team won many state titles and I placed 3 boys to the top 50 boys in the USA and attended the Olympic Training Center for 4 years where they take the top boys and coaches in the US for specialized training.
I started the Courthouse Gymnastics and ran it for the first three years where we had the best kids in the state both girls and boys. We competed our kids all over the USA and placed many kids in regional and national level competitions. After leaving the Courthouse I left the state and coached in Florida. I got home sick and came back to Mississippi and started Tumble Cheer USA where I grew my gym to over 800 kids. I also opened a Gym in Simpson County where we not only taught tumbling and cheerleading but we had a full fitness center and an Olympic sized pool. One part of the business was what we called Fun Gym. I purchased some inflatables and opened the gym up on Friday and Saturday night (It was a lot like Pump it Up) where we would tumble, jump on inflatables and just play. I would have 150 to 250 kids every Friday and Saturday night. What I realized was that the kids would come in and play and tumble on the weekends and would get so much better because of the environment of the weekends. We also had open gyms, and birthday parties on the weekends and they were very popular.
Not only was this time fun but it was a good safe place for them to hang out. My goal is the same as most parents. I want my kids to be involved in things where they are loved and their character will be built up. I realize there are not a lot of places where I would feel safe to drop off my kids and know they will be in an environment where they are taught the same values that I have at my house. This is why I coach the way I do. I am a fun positive person and I bring this to all the classes I teach. I love to work hard and I expect the kids to work hard. I am a very competitive person and I want to create an environment in the gym where the kids push each other to be the best. I want the kids to know I love them and I want to model Jesus to them. I have realized that kids will work hard for someone that they know loves then and that they respect.
What do I want to do in Madison?
I want to provide a gym to Madison that not only has the best Tumbling and Cheer training programs but is a place where our kids will grow up knowing that they are loved. I want the kids to be able to hang out on the weekends and be in a positive environment. I want to have a place where they can play and enjoy themselves, not just work hard all the time.
In the future I want to build a building here that would have in ground trampolines, pits, power tumbling floors, bungee systems, dance, full line gymnastics and much more. During the week I would teach kids Cheer, tumbling, and Gymnastics and then on the weekends I would like to have a skating rink on one side of the building and inflatable’s on the other side for the kids in Madison to have a place to play. My goal is to build up the program and when we have around 500 people we will find some land to build a gym. I will build a gym around 30,000 square ft. I know that most of you would like to help because you have the same goals that I do for our kids. Here is how you can help now. Please help spread the word about our program. I want everyone to pick up some “One Lesson Free Cards” and hand them out to the people you know. Tell them about our gym, what we stand for and about wanting to provide a place for the kids to have something to do in Madison. Please be sure to write your name on the back of the cards because I am going to give you $50.00 for every two people that sign up that bring in your card. We will build up the gym to around 500 kids and then we will get started planning our new gym. If you have ideas that you would like to share with me or talk about what you would like to see in Madison please email me and we will get together to talk about them. I would like to start a group of people who have a heart for kids and would like to help with the dream. This group would meet once a month to discuss ideas to further the dream of the gym for the kids. If you feel lead to be on this team please let me know.
I am so excited to see what is going on in the gym.
